My Lab Won't Validate: What to Check

Learn how to fix the most common reasons a CLI task isn't accepted.

Most validation issues come from a small detail.
Go through this checklist before contacting us.

1. Check where you are typing

  • Right device: Make sure you are on the device named in the task (R1, SW1…).

  • Right mode: Look at the prompt. Interface commands need (config-if)#, show commands need #.

2. Check what you typed

  • Typos: Re-read the command letter by letter.

  • Interface names: Match the task exactly, like g0/1 vs g0/2.

3. Check the values

  • Exact values: Use the exact IP addresses, VLAN numbers, names and masks given in the task.

4. Still blocked?

  • Ask the community: Join our Discord server and post your question.
    Other learners and our team will help you get unstuck.

5. Think it's a bug?
